Motorcyclist dies after collision with motor scooter, bicycle

TAMPA — A 59-year-old man died Wednesday after his motorcycle crashed into a scooter, which then crashed into a bicycle crossing the road, officials said.

Thomas Hamilton of Tampa was driving his Harley-Davidson north on N Boulevard about 9:15 p.m. when he struck a motor scooter preparing to turn onto Patriot Place, deputies said.

The scooter, driven by Poblito Pickering, 21, was stopped because there was a bicycle trying to cross the road.

As the Harley-Davidson plowed into the scooter, Pickering collided with the bicyclist, Randall Veiten, 46, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.

Hamilton died at the scene. Veiten declined treatment but Pickering and his passenger, Shannon Haughton, 18, were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
