Motorcyclist dies after crash on I-275

TAMPA — An Illinois man died at Tampa General Hospital Thursday after his motorcycle rear-ended a pickup truck on Interstate 275.

Damian S. Burgos, 34, of Glenview, Ill., was northbound on I-275 just north of Lois Avenue when the pickup truck in front of him stopped in traffic, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The brakes locked up on Burgos' 1998 Kawasaki ZX600 and he slammed into the rear of the truck. He was taken to Tampa General where he died.

The pickup driver, Brett P. Hazelwood, 17, and his passenger, Paul Hazelwood, 56, both of Oldsmar, were not injured.
