Motorcyclist dies after hitting dump truck on Interstate 4

PLANT CITY — A 28-year-old motorcyclist from Pinellas County died after crashing into the back of a dump truck Wednesday night, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Christopher Robert Sherman, 28, of Pinellas Park, was heading west on Interstate 4, approaching Branch Forbes Road, about 8 p.m.

Sherman, who was riding a 2005 Yamaha motorcycle, sped up to a dump truck driven by Armando Faz, 41, of Lakeland, and crashed into it, troopers said.

Sherman was thrown from the motorcycle and hit the rear of the truck, troopers said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

It was not immediately clear why Sherman, who was wearing a helmet, crashed into the truck.

Faz was not injured.
