HUDSON — A 28-year-old motorcyclist died early Thursday after crashing into a light pole, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers said Eric Cardona, of Spring Hill, was traveling north on U.S. Highway 19 at a high rate of speed near Meridian Boulevard.
He lost control of the 2007 Honda motorcycle, causing it to veer off onto the east grass shoulder. The motorcycle struck a light pole, flipped multiple times and threw Cardona.
The Florida Highway Patrol got the call around 2:25 a.m. and were on scene by 2:41 a.m.
Cardona was pronounced dead at the scene.
