ST. PETERSBURG — A motorcyclist was hospitalized with serious injuries Wednesday evening after a crash with a pickup in north St. Petersburg.
The motorcyclist, whom police had not yet identified late Wednesday, was riding south on Fourth Street approaching the intersection of 78th Avenue on a 2008 Suzuki just before 7 p.m., authorities said. At the same time, a 2012 Chevy truck was preparing to make a left turn from the northbound side of Fourth Street onto 78th Avenue.
The truck turned in front of the bike, police said. The bike hit the truck and the motorcyclist was thrown onto the pavement. He was taken to Bayfront Medical Center with serious injuries, police said.
The driver of the Chevy, Phillip Corcella, 26, of Pinellas Park, was not injured.
The crash was not believed to have been related to alcohol, police said. It remained under investigation late Wednesday.
