CLEARWATER — A 23-year-old motorcyclist was seriously injured Monday night in a traffic crash, police said.

Jack Randall Wallace of St. Petersburg was heading east on the Memorial Causeway bridge just after 7 p.m. when he approached a slower vehicle on Chestnut Street. As he passed it, Wallace lost control and struck the curb. The impact threw him off the motorcycle and his body struck a street sign, Clearwater police said.

Wallace was flown to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg, where he remained in critical condition Tuesday morning. He was not wearing a helmet.

An investigation remained underway.
