Motorcyclist injured in downtown Tampa crash

TAMPA — Twiggs Street was closed near Ashley Drive during Thursday morning rush hour as police investigated a crash involving a motorcycle.

Peter Mitchell, 50, was riding a motorcycle west on Twiggs at about 7 a.m. when he collided with a truck driven by Kenneth Moore, 54, Tampa police said.

Mitchell was taken to Tampa General Hospital in critical condition. He was stable later Thursday, police said.

Police interviewed witnesses and were not immediately able to determine who was at fault.

Detectives were working Thursday to obtain video recordings from cameras in the area.
