Injured motorcyclist dies at Tampa General

A motorcyclist who was thrown off his bike after crashing into the back of a van Tuesday has died at Tampa General Hospital. Andrew Paul Robinson, 20, was weaving through traffic at high speeds on a motorcycle about 4:45 p.m. Tuesday, heading south on N 56th Street, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Dustin Lee Davis, 21, was driving a 2004 Chevrolet van north on 56th Street and about to turn left onto 56th Commerce Park Boulevard. As Davis turned, Robinson was passing a vehicle by traveling in the bicycle lane when he crashed into the back of the van, troopers said. He was thrown from the bike and later hospitalized.

Robinson died overnight, troopers said.
