Motorcyclist killed in Clearwater crash

Motorcyclist killed after bike is struck by car

A motorcyclist was killed early Wednesday in a traffic crash, police said. Torin G. Quiles of Largo was heading east on Court Street at a high rate of speed, police said. Driver Virginia J. Graham of Clearwater was heading west in a 2001 Mercury on State Road 60 at 2 a.m. and approaching the intersection of Court Street and Highland Avenue, police said. Graham drove past Highland Avenue and didn't yield the right of way, police said. As she made an illegal U-turn, Graham struck the back of Quiles' Yamaha motorcycle, police said. Quiles, 22, died while being transported to Morton Plant Hospital. No charges were filed Wednesday morning, but the investigation of the crash was continuing.
