ST. PETERSBURG — A motorcyclist was seriously injured this morning when he struck a median and lost control of his 2009 Yamaha.
John Robert Cox, 74, of 1571 Carson Circle NE, suffered a serious head injury and was taken to Bayfront Medical Center, according to St. Petersburg police.
Cox was eastbound on Snell Isle Boulevard NE about 11 a.m. when he hit the median as he approached Palmera Boulevard NE. The motorcycle slid about 75 feet before coming to a stop.
Cox was wearing a helmet and did have a valid motorcycle license, police said.
An investigation is ongoing.
