Motorcyclist suffers life-threatening injuries in Dunedin crash

DUNEDIN — A man was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries late Wednesday after he was thrown from his motorcycle, deputies said.

Brian Keith Doll, 48, of Largo was driving a 2006 Suzuki motorcycle south on Edgewater Drive around 10:30 p.m., when, officials said, he sideswiped a steel guardrail on the side of the road.

The motorcycle then crashed into a concrete gutter and began to "cartwheel through some trees," according to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office.

Doll, who was not wearing a helmet, was thrown from the motorcycle during the crash. He was taken to Bayfront Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

Deputies suspect alcohol and speed may have been factors in the crash.

Both northbound and southbound lanes of Edgewater Drive were shut down between President Street and Aberdeen Street for several hours Wednesday night while the crash was investigated.
