New Port Richey woman crashes personal watercraft into pontoon boat

A New Port Richey woman was taken to the hospital Sunday afternoon after she crashed her personal watercraft into a pontoon boat, the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office said.

Alisha Pearson-Garvey, 31, was driving the personal watercraft about half a mile south of Fred Howard Park in Tarpon Springs when she crashed.

Deputies said she made a hard right in front of the pontoon boat, driven by Bernard Foigt, 36, of Trinity.

Pearson-Garvey was thrown from the personal watercraft and received injuries to her face. She was taken to Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point with non-life-threatening injuries, deputies said.

Deputies said alcohol was not a factor in the accident.
