New Port Richey woman dies in crash on Massachusetts Avenue

A New Port Richey woman died Sunday after the car she was riding in turned in front of an oncoming vehicle, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Andres Loizou, 82, and Eleni Loizou, 80, were traveling in a Buick Century eastbound on Massachusetts Avenue in New Port Richey, stopped beneath a green light to turn left onto Little Road.

Richard Hayes, 45 and also of New Port Richey, drove westbound in an SUV approaching the same intersection when authorities say Andres Loizou turned in front of him.

The vehicles collided, and the Buick ran off the road.

Eleni Loizou was taken to Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point, where she later died of her injuries.
