One dead in early-morning crash, Florida Highway Patrol says

ST. PETERSBURG — A Sarasota man died early Tuesday after colliding with a guardrail on the 31st Street S exit ramp on northbound Interstate 275, a Florida Highway Patrol spokesman said.

Authorities said Adam Laurent Shaw, 22, was traveling too fast for the morning's rainy conditions. Just before 4 a.m., he lost control of his 2001 Pontiac coupe and hit the guardrail on the road's right side.

The driver was thrown from the vehicle and died at the scene.
