One rescued after car plunges into bay from St. Petersburg's Shore Acres neighborhood

ST. PETERSBURG — A car crashed over a seawall in Shore Acres and plunged into the water Friday morning.

Authorities arrived at 3914 14th Lane NE on Smacks Bayou, just west of Shore Acres Boulevard, about 8:30 a.m.

One man made it out of the car and pulled himself up onto a dock behind the house and was being treated by paramedics, said St. Petersburg Fire Rescue spokesman Lt. Joel Granata.

A diver found no one else inside the car.

Police said Tri-J Towing would pull the car out of the water Friday.
