A man died early Monday after the car he was riding in overturned on County Road 535 in Pasco County.
Florida Highway Patrol troopers said the driver, a Zephyrhills woman, tried to negotiate her 2003 Chevy Impala around a curve south of Otis Allen Road and lost control. Mona Jackson, 42, over corrected, sending the car into the west shoulder and then into a barrel roll just after 3:30 a.m.
The car flew into the air and passenger Scott Driggers, 48, of Zephrhills, was ejected. Driggers died at the scene. Jackson and a second passenger, 66-year-old Robert Varnadoe, were transported to Lakeland Regional Medical Center with serious injuries.
Troopers said Driggers was the only person in the car not wearing a seat belt.
Authorities have not determined if alcohol played a role in the crash. No other details were released Monday night.
