Pedestrian, 31, killed in Holiday hit-and-run crash

HOLIDAY — A 31-year-old Holiday man trying to cross U.S. 19 was killed by a hit-and-run driver Tuesday night, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Joseph J. Vandoren was trying to walk west across U.S. 19 just north of Beacon Square Drive about 9 p.m., troopers said. He wore dark clothes. As he entered the outside lane of U.S. 19, he was hit by a southbound 2004 Ford pickup truck, driven by Scott Alexander Isenberg, of 827 Scott Street in Dunedin, who fled.

Vandoren was taken to the Medical Center of Trinity in Trinity, where he died.

Early Wednesday morning, the truck's passenger, Andrew Lawrence Lindenburg, of Palm Harbor, called FHP to report the crash, the report states. Authorities found Isenberg at his home; the truck parked not far away at Dunedin Marina.

Charges will be filed pending investigation.

The FHP asks anyone who witnessed the crash to call Cpl. Jim Covert at (813) 631-4020.
