Pedestrian critical after being hit by car in Tampa

TOWN N' COUNTRY — A 44-year-old pedestrian was hospitalized late Monday after he was hit by a car on Hillsborough Avenue.

Don R. Friscioni of Tampa was walking south on Hillsborough Avenue east of Town and Country Boulevard at about 11:50 p.m.,, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. A four-door Oldsmobile was heading west in the inside lane.

Troopers said Friscioni walked into the car's path and was struck. He was thrown onto the windshield before hitting the ground.

Friscioni was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital in critical condition.

The Oldsmobile driver, 25-year-old Charles Fonshell, of Dunedin, had minor injures.

The crash is under investigation.
