Pedestrian dies days after Treasure Island crash

TREASURE ISLAND — A 62-year-old man struck by a car as he crossed Blind Pass Road last week has died, police said.

Wilbur Clamon of Treasure Island was pronounced dead shortly after 9 p.m. Saturday, said police Detective Trenton Taylor.

Clamon had been in intensive care at Bayfront Medical Center since Wednesday night, when he was hit by a green, 2001 Hyundai in the 9600 block of Blind Pass Road near a 7-Eleven.

Witnesses told police Clamon was crossing the road outside of a marked crosswalk and in violation of traffic signals.

The driver of the Hyundai, Daniel Nelson, 62, of Brooksville, suffered minor injuries.

The crash was still under investigation. Police have said neither speed nor alcohol was a factor.
