Pedestrian killed when hit by truck

A man died after he was hit by a truck while trying to cross E Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard at Lakewood Avenue in Mango on Thursday, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The man, a 49-year-old Hills­boro, N.J., resident whose name had not been released as of Thursday night, died at the scene of the crash.

The driver, Robert Vargas, 46, of Tampa and passenger Myrna Torres, 65, of Ruskin were uninjured.
