Pedestrian injured in Treasure Island hit-and-run identified

TREASURE ISLAND — A pedestrian was hospitalized after being struck by a hit-and-run driver late Monday, police said.

Police identified the man as 34-year-old Duane L. Blakey of Gulfport.

Officers said Blakey was walking southbound in the northbound lanes of Gulf Boulevard when he was struck near the 11700 block of Gulf Boulevard. He was in stable condition at Bayfront Medical Center on Tuesday morning, police said.

Police got the call about 11:49 p.m.

Police are looking for a red hatchback, possibly a Nissan, with tinted windows. The vehicle likely has some front-end damage, police said.

Police are asking people with information about the vehicle or its driver to contact the Treasure Island Police Department at (727) 547-4595.
