Pedestrian killed by truck on Tampa's E Adamo Drive

TAMPA — Police say a Brandon man driving a 2000 Chevy pickup truck hit and killed a pedestrian early Friday when the man jumped in front of his vehicle.

The accident happened near the 5200 block of E Adamo Drive at 2:43 a.m.

Douglas Matthew Fink, 27, was driving his blue truck east on Adamo Drive in the outside lane when he hit the pedestrian, who was walking on the south shoulder of the road, with the front of his truck, police said.

A witness told police that he or she did not know why the pedestrian jumped in front of the vehicle.

The pedestrian, whose next of kin has not been notified, was in his mid 20s, police said. Tampa Fire Rescue pronounced him dead at the scene.

Tampa police detectives were investigating the accident.
