Pedestrian killed crossing 34th Street N in St. Petersburg

ST. PETERSBURG — A pedestrian was killed Tuesday night when he was struck by a sport utility vehicle while crossing 34th Street N, police said.

According to police, the unidentified 64-year-old man was crossing westbound on 34th Street N around 9:35 p.m. when he was struck by a 2016 Chevrolet Tahoe driven by 31-year-old Kendra Thompson, who was heading north approaching 33rd Avenue N.

The pedestrian died at the scene, police said.

The crash closed a portion of 34th Street N for several hours, police said.
