ST. PETERSBURG — A man was killed Sunday morning when he walked into a downtown St. Petersburg street and was hit by a cab, authorities said.
It was nearly 3:30 a.m. when Wesley Brown, the driver of a 1996 Mercury taxi, was traveling south on Fourth Street N. As he neared the intersection with First Avenue N, a man the police have yet to identify stepped into the street and was hit by the taxi, police said.
The pedestrian was taken to Bayfront Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. Brown was not injured in the crash.
The incident remains under investigation.
