ST. PETERSBURG — Troopers have identified the St. Petersburg pedestrian who was killed after being hit by a car early Thursday.
Andrew Thomas Johns, 56, died at Northside Hospital, according to the Florida State Highway Patrol.
The crash was reported about 5:30 a.m. when a Ford F-250 was heading north on 49th Street N, approaching 48th Avenue.
Johns was crossing the street from west to east and walked into the Ford's path, troopers said. The driver slowed down, but couldn't avoid hitting the pedestrian, who was not using a crosswalk.
The driver, Floyd W. Clutter, 60, of St. Petersburg, was not injured.
The crash remains under investigation.
