TAMPA — A 57-year-old man was killed Monday night after being struck by a car on Hillsborough Avenue, Florida Highway Patrol officials said.

The crash was reported at 11:45 p.m. east of 56th Street. A Toyota Sienna driven by Xiang Wang Wang, 48, was headed east in the inside lane of Hillsborough Avenue as the man tried to cross the road.

Wang, unable to see the pedestrian crossing the street with a bicycle, struck the man.

Troopers said the pedestrian, a Tampa man, died at the scene. He has not been identified pending notification of family.

Wang, who is from Port Richey, was not given a citation.

An investigation remained under way Tuesday.
