Pedestrian killed in hit-and-run crash

CLEARWATER – A pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run crash early Saturday, authorities said.

The crash occurred shortly before 3 a.m. on Ulmerton Road just east of Stonybrook Drive.

According to preliminary information, a driver in a red vehicle was westbound on Ulmerton approaching the intersection when it struck the pedestrian, who was in the inside lane, and kept going. A more complete description of the car was not available, officials said.

The victim has not been identified.
