Pedestrian seriously injured after being hit by car in St. Pete

ST. PETERSBURG — A man was hospitalized with serious injuries Thursday after he was hit by a car while running across 66th Street.

Henry E. Hudson, 33, got out of a car that was parked on the east side of 66th Street, south of 54th Avenue N, about 2:15 p.m. and ran west. A 2005 Jeep Cherokee was traveling south on 66th Street and hit Hudson as he ran across the street, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Hudson was taken to Bayfront Medical Center with serious injuries, officials said.

Lauren E. Lankford, 20, of Waynesville, N.C., was driving the Jeep and was uninjured, authorities said.

An investigation of the accident is ongoing.
