Pedestrian struck, killed on SR 54 in New Port Richey

NEW PORT RICHEY — A pedestrian was killed late Thursday after she was struck by an SUV, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

A 53-year-old unidentified woman was crossing the westbound lanes of State Road 54 near Barker Drive when she was hit by a 2003 KIA driven by Linda Eurice, 54, about 11:40 p.m., authorities said.

The woman, who was walking northbound, was not at a cross walk or at an intersection. Authorities said she walked directly in front of Eurice's vehicle, which was in the center lane.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene by a Pasco County paramedic.
