A Lithia man is dead after a collision between a pickup and a semitrailer truck on Lithia Pinecrest Road about noon Tuesday.

The crash happened after the tractor trailer's driver, Shane Howard, 40, of Jacksonville, swerved to avoid hitting a Chevy Impala driven by Shereen Aziz, 45, of Ruskin, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.

Aziz pulled out in front of Howard, according to the sheriff's office, causing Howard to veer into the left lane. When Howard tried to steer back, the semitrailer was dislodged from its load, which struck a pickup driven by Michael Warren Liverett, 45, of Lithia, according to the sheriff's office.

Lift equipment was needed to remove the trailer, which carried a railroad car, from Lithia Pinecrest Road.

The road was expected to be closed between Tuten Loop and Albritton Road for several hours.
