Pickup hits, kills man crossing County Line Road in Spring Hill

SPRING HILL — An unidentified man was killed early Tuesday when he was struck by a pickup on County Line Road, the Florida Highway Patrol reported.

The crash occurred about 1 a.m. on County Line at Runyon Drive when an eastbound 2007 Toyota pickup driven by Jodi A. Kirby, 24, of Brooksville struck the man, who ran across County Line, the FHP said.

The man's name was not released, pending identification and notification of next of kin.

The FHP said the impact of the crash threw the pedestrian into a culvert on the south side of County Line, and Kirby, who was not injured, pulled over to the side of the road. The pedestrian was taken to Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point, where he died.

Kirby was wearing a seat belt. The FHP said toxicology results were pending for both Kirby and the pedestrian.
