Pinellas deputy involved in rear-end crash

Pinellas sheriff's officials were investigating a crash Thursday that involved a deputy.

Deputy Sarah Harlan was stopped in the southbound lanes of 49th Street North at Ulmerton Road about 1:15 p.m. when a van driven by Tatanisha Harper, 33, of St. Petersburg, struck her vehicle from behind.

Harlan, 47, who has worked for the agency for more than eight years, suffered minor injuries and went to the hospital as a precaution.

Harper, who is pregnant, reported feeling light-headed and was taken to a Bayfront Health St. Petersburg, deputies said.

An investigation was ongoing.
