TAMPA — A 26-year-old motorcyclist from Pinellas Park was killed Saturday afternoon in a four-vehicle crash on the Howard Frankland Bridge.
About 3:15 p.m., Justin Mullins was traveling south on a Kawasaki motorcycle on Interstate 275 when he abruptly changed lanes, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
As a result, he collided with the side of a Toyota Camry, the patrol said. Mullins and his passenger, Jessica Mullins, also 26, were thrown from the motorcycle. The motorcycle continued on its path and struck the side of a Toyota FJ Cruiser.
Jessica Mullins suffered minor injuries, the patrol said. Justin Mullins, who was thrown into the path of a southbound Chevrolet Silverado that struck him, died at the scene. He was wearing a helmet, troopers said.
The crash, on the Tampa side of the bridge's hump, snarled traffic for hours.
