Plant City man dead after single vehicle crash on I-4

PLANT CITY — A Plant City man died early Saturday morning after he lost control of his truck on Interstate 4 near McIntosh Road, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

George J. Durden, 29, of Plant City, was driving west on I-4 west of McIntosh Road at a high rate of speed just after midnight Saturday, troopers said.

Durden lost control and the Ford F-150 truck overturned several times in the median, troopers said. Durden and his passenger, Kasie M. Durden, 27, of Plant City, were ejected from the truck.

George J. Durden died at the scene, troopers said.

His passenger was transported to Lakeland Regional Medical Center with critical injuries. Neither were wearing seat belts.

The crash is under investigation.
