LARGO — A 40-year-old man was airlifted to the hospital with life-threatening injuries Wednesday night after he ran his motorcycle into a palm tree, police said.

Timothy Sellers, 40, was riding his 2006 Honda VTX motorcycle northbound on Indian Rocks Rd. just before midnight Wednesday. He was not wearing a helmet and police believe he had been drinking earlier that night.

As the road curved to the right, Sellers continued straight, police said. He ran off the road and collided with a palm tree near the intersection of Wilcox Road, police said.

Sellers was flown to Bayfront Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

An investigation is ongoing.

The Largo Police Department has asked witnesses of the crash or anyone with knowledge of the incident to call Sgt. George Edmiston at (727) 587-6730.
