Pedestrian killed by SUV in hit-and-run
Police were investigating a hit-and-run crash Saturday that left a pedestrian dead on U.S. 19 at the Mainlands Boulevard intersection.
A man pushing a bicycle tried to cross from the east to west side of the highway about 6 p.m., police said. As he crossed the southbound lanes, a white Ford Explorer hit him. The Explorer, described as a mid-2000s model, continued south after the collision, police said.
All southbound lanes on the highway were closed as police investigated.
Police withheld the man's identity pending notification of his family.
