Police investigating after toddler nearly drowns in Pinellas Park backyard pool

PINELLAS PARK — An 11-month-old girl was in serious condition Tuesday night after she nearly drowned in a backyard swimming pool, according to police.

The girl fell into the pool about 3:40 p.m. at a home in the 10700 block of 57th Street in Pinellas Park, police said. She was taken to a local hospital and later transferred to All Children's Hospital, where she was still undergoing treatment Tuesday evening.

Further details about how the girl ended up in the pool were not immediately available. Police were still investigating late Tuesday, said Pinellas Park Police Sgt. Brian Unmisig.
