Driver identified in fatal Largo crash

Police said Wednesday that a 32-year-old man was the driver in the early Sunday crash that killed a man and injured his passenger in Largo.

Investigators determined that Shannon Ollek, 32, was driving a 2008 Chevy southbound on Starkey Road just before 1 a.m. Sunday when the vehicle veered off the road and slid sideways into a culvert. The vehicle rolled at least once and Ollek was thrown out. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

His passenger, Kelly Cronin, 55, suffered minor injuries and was released from the hospital. Neither Cronin nor Ollek was wearing seat belts, police said. Police said alcohol was a factor in the accident.
