Police release details of Clearwater motorcycle crash

CLEARWATER — Police have released the names of drivers involved in a serious motorcycle accident this morning that closed westbound lanes of Gulf-to-Bay Boulevard for several hours.

Shortly after 11 a.m., Tiffany Linn Goolsby, 29, of Riverview, driving a 2010 Acura TSX, attempted to turn right onto Gulf-to-Bay from the RaceTrac gas station at 2854 Gulf-to-Bay.

Robert Lee Hatfield, 59, of Tampa was driving a 2002 Harley Davidson motorcycle westbound in the middle lane of Gulf-to-Bay, following another motorcycle.

Police said that after the first motorcycle passed, Goolsby turned right into the middle lane and into Hatfield's path. The two vehicles collided. Hatfield was taken to the hospital with injuries at first believed to be life-threatening but are now classified as serious.

Hatfield was wearing a helmet.

Investigation of the accident is continuing.
