A pregnant woman was taken to the hospital Saturday with life-threatening injuries after she was accidentally shot in the head while being shown a gun, the Hernando County Sheriff's Office said.
Kathleen Hoover of Citrus County was visiting friends at 20079 Suncrest Drive in Brooksville around 6:45 p.m.
William DeHayes was showing Hoover some of his guns in the home, including a .22 caliber revolver. The gun accidentally fired and shot Hoover in the head, authorities said.
Hoover was taken to Bayfront Health Brooksville and then airlifted to Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point. She is five months pregnant.
