A 37-year-old Ruskin woman died in a head-on crash early Saturday morning in northern Manatee County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Jill K. Ashby was driving her Nissan Altima south in a northbound lane of Interstate 275 near Palmetto when she collided with a northbound Dodge pickup truck at about 2:30 a.m., troopers said.
Ashby was pronounced dead a short time later by the Medical Examiner's Office. The truck driver, 50-year-old Larry T. Dickinson, of Clearwater, was taken to Bayfront Medical Center with serious injuries.
Northbound I-275 was closed from about 3 a.m. until 6 a.m.
