PINELLAS PARK — A 34-year-old Safety Harbor man died Friday after his motorcycle collided with a pickup truck, he was ejected and then run over by the truck, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash took place at 5 p.m. at the intersection of 66th Street N and 94th Avenue N, Sgt. Steve Gaskins said.

Cyclist Mark R. Riendeau was heading south on 66th Street when a northbound 2008 Toyota Tundra pickup truck driven by 73-year-old Russell L. Kirchoff started to turn left onto 94th Avenue to go west, troopers said.

Riendeau braked to avoid a collision, but lost control of his 2011 Kawasaki ZX600, which overturned and started to spin. It struck the pickup, and Riendeau was ejected and run over by the truck. Riendeau, who was wearing a helmet, was taken to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg, where he died.

Troopers said alcohol was not involved in the crash. Charges are pending the completion of the investigation.
