Seffner crash leaves driver dead; intersection temporarily closed

SEFFNER

One driver killed as two pickups collide

A crash involving two pickup trucks Thursday morning has left one driver dead.

Daniel R. Walls, 75, of Seffner was eastbound in his 1990 Ford F-150 on State Road 579 when he attempted to drive across Old Hillsborough Avenue, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.

At 11 a.m., he drove into the path of Simona Naugle's southbound 2006 Ford F-150. She swerved but was unable to avoid a collision, deputies said. Walls' truck overturned. He died at the scene. Naugle, 22, of Orlando, had minor bumps and bruises.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts. No charges have been filed as the investigation continues.
