Seffner man badly hurt as SUV overturns on I-4

MANGO — A passenger in a sport utility vehicle was badly injured Sunday afternoon after it blew a tire on Interstate 4 and overturned, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Just before 2:30 p.m., the 1998 Ford was traveling east on I-4 west of the Mango Road exit. Its driver, Sharon Souder Scott, 36, of Seffner thought there was a problem with a rear tire and tried to drive onto the shoulder.

But the tire blew and she lost control, the patrol said.

Passenger Sean Ranie Scott, 40, also of Seffner, was ejected as the SUV overturned, the patrol said. He was not wearing a seat belt and suffered serious injuries. The driver, who was restrained, had minor injuries.

Both were taken to Tampa General Hospital.
