Seminole man dies in Clearwater motorcycle crash

CLEARWATER — A Seminole man died Thursday when the motorcycle he was riding collided with a car near Belcher Road and Drew Street in Clearwater.

Derek John Diamond, 50, was riding a 2003 Honda motorcycle south on Belcher Road about 3:20 p.m. approaching Drew Street, police said. As he moved through the intersection, a 1999 four-door Mercury on the northbound side of Belcher Road turned left in front of him to head into the parking of a Hess gas station, authorities said.

The motorcycle collided with the car. Diamond died at the scene.

Police did not say if the driver of the Mercury, Alfred J. Belanger, 83, of New Port Richey, or his passenger, Patricia Belanger, 82, were injured.

The crash remained under investigation.
