MADEIRA BEACH — A 25-year-old motorcyclist was seriously injured early Sunday in a crash in Madeira Beach.

Just before 1:30 a.m., Robert J. Zaper of Seminole was northbound on Gulf Boulevard near Boca Ciega Drive when his 2001 Suzuki rode onto the curb and hit pieces of wood near the street, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office.

Zaper was ejected from his motorcycle, and he wasn't wearing a helmet, according to the Sheriff's Office. He was taken to Bayfront Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

Police are seeking witnesses and asking anyone with information to call (727) 582-6200 or Crime Stoppers, toll-free, at 1-800-873-8477.
