SPRING HILL — A woman died Thursday morning after losing control of her vehicle and smashing into a house, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Kristen Dawkins, 22, of Spring Hill was driving south on Harrow Road in the Forest Oaks neighborhood just after 7 a.m. when she failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Norbert Street, troopers said.
While crossing the intersection the undercarriage of Dawkins' 2008 Nissan Altima hit the roadway, causing the car to spin and go airborne. The car collided with a palm tree planted outside of 3205 Harrow Road and then careened into the home next door, at 3197 Harrow Road.
Dawkins, who was not wearing a seat belt, died at the scene of the crash. It is unknown if alcohol was a factor in the crash, the Highway Patrol said.
