BROOKSVILLE — A Spring Hill man was charged Friday with DUI manslaughter in a head-on collision that killed a 16-year-old Central High student last September.

William Curt Brooks, 38, was arrested by Hernando County sheriff's deputies and booked into the county jail. He was being held without bail Friday.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Jenna Marie Moran's 1992 Nissan Maxima was headed west on Hexam Road the afternoon of Sept. 24, 2008, when an eastbound 2007 Mitsubishi pickup driven by Brooks crossed the center line into her path.

The crash caused Brooks' vehicle to overturn twice.

Jenna, a junior at Central, was seriously injured in the accident and died at St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa the next day.

A family member who answered the phone at the Morans' home in Weeki Wachee on Friday declined to comment.
