Spring Hill man crashes motorcycle into tree, dies

NEW PORT RICHEY — A Spring Hill man died Saturday after crashing his motorcycle into a tree, authorities said.

Frederick William Larson, 68, was driving a 2003 Honda motorcycle north on Lake Drive in New Port Richey, approaching the intersection with Gowan Street, when he swerved off the road and into a tree, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash happened about 5:52 p.m. Larson, who the patrol said was not wearing a helmet, died at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation, the patrol said.
