SPRING HILL — A motorcyclist was killed early Sunday after failing to make a curve, striking a tree and then being hit by another driver, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
The name of the cyclist, 34 from Spring Hill, was not released pending notification of relatives.
The patrol said that around 3 a.m., the motorcyclist driving a Yamaha R6 was traveling near Pinehurst Drive and Talbot Circle when he failed to negotiate a curve. The driver, who was not wearing a helmet, struck a tree and was ejected onto the roadway.
Brendan Sean Haverty, 34, of Spring Hill was driving a pickup truck south on Pinehurst Drive and did not see the motorcyclist in the road, the patrol said.
He struck the cyclist, who was declared dead at the scene.
The crash is still under investigation, the patrol said.
